2020 Santa

2020 was a rough year, even Santa had to mask up to keep Mrs. Claus and the elves safe. Here are a few step by step photos of how I carved this year's ornament from basswood. I painted Santa with thinned acrylics and applied two coats of water based polyurethane. Comments or questions are welcome, and thanks for following along. Better days are ahead.......

Santa Rolling Pin Finished

Just finished up this commission piece. Painted with acrylic washes. Followed with two light coats of water-based polyurethane, and a coat of Howard's Feed N Wax. I'm really happy with how he turned out! Now he's heading to sunny California.

Santa Rolling Pin Update

I got some carving time in on the rolling pin today. Finished up the details, and now he's ready for some color.

Santa Rolling Pin

Started a commissioned piece for a Santa Claus collector in California. This is another Munising rolling pin made from rock hard maple.
