Self-isolation

I hope everyone is safe and well during this Global pandemic. I'm staying busy with yard work and getting the vegetable garden going for the season. Of course I've also been carving a lot of cottonwood bark. So I thought I'd share the pieces I've been working on since 'Rona came to town. Thanks for following. Take care of yourself, make sure you get outside get some fresh air, take a walk or just relax. Try not to stress we're going to get through this together.

Back At It

The holidays are over, and the carved Santas and ornaments are gone. It's time to get back to freeing some wood spirits. Come back and see who's hiding in these pieces of cottonwood bark.

Merlin the Wizard

I carved this one from Missouri cottonwood bark. I started with a quick sketch and then cleaned the carving surface. As I was carving this one the nose broke off, often a problem with bark carving. But no worries, there was another nose behind that one. I just re-carved the face and it turned out better than the first. I finished the carving with Deft Satin Lacquer.
