I'm Back

Here is the first piece I carved in almost two months. It feels good to be back at it. This is a large piece of cottonwood bark from North Dakota. It measures 21" long, 4" - 5" wide and 3 1/2" thick. I tried to put more movement in this carving by turning the head slightly and having him looking down. I finished the carving by applying neutral boot cream polish. This is the Boot Barn brand. As you can see in the photos it darkens when you first apply it, but lightens up as it dries. Of all the finishes I have used, boot polish darkens the cottonwood bark least.
