Santa Rolling Pin Update

I got some carving time in on the rolling pin today. Finished up the details, and now he's ready for some color.

Santa Rolling Pin

Started a commissioned piece for a Santa Claus collector in California. This is another Munising rolling pin made from rock hard maple.

August Storm

 A strong storm came through, on August 16, and tore the heck out of our tulip poplar tree. It took the roof off a church a couple miles north of us. So we're feeling lucky that the tree missed our house, garage and shed. Even missed the small pear tree. I had two separate arborists come out and look at it, they think it can make it with the damage it sustained. The tree crew come in today and cleaned it up, and thinned it out. Of course I got some carving wood out of it. I peeled the bark  and sealed the ends of these large logs with Anchor Seal. I will put them in the attic of the garage to dry. I've also put up some small ones for some walking sticks, small carvings and ornaments. Not sure what these logs are hiding, but I have a few years before the will be ready to carve.
